On rotation, a crew change is routine: handover, contracts, the procedures that apply now and the induction of whoever is new. Each of them is a process someone holds together, and there are many of them.
Shipmate carries the crew part. The crew list follows the rotation, the newcomer reads and signs before arriving, the handover is written as it happens, and you see who has read what.
Shipping
A crew from many countries, one company
A cargo vessel sails with a crew from several countries, months at a time, far from the office. What holds them together is what they know: who is on board, what applies on this vessel, and what is happening in the company.
Shipmate puts the company on every phone on board. The handbook for the vessel and the rank, the current version. News to the whole fleet or to one vessel, with a count of who has read it. And the crew list that says who is on board right now.
Aquaculture
Land sites, sea sites and wellboats, one organisation
A fish farming company runs land sites, sea sites and wellboats in shuttle traffic, with a lot of people who need one internal channel and the handbooks that apply where they work.
A wellboat crew, a site technician and the office are different roles in one organisation. Shipmate follows that hierarchy: each person gets the messages, the handbook and the procedures for where they work, and nothing meant for someone else. The office sees that it was read.
