Communication
Send once. See who has read it.
Pick who a message is for, write it once, and Shipmate works out how to reach each person: a push where the app is installed, a text with a link where it is not. Then you can see who has opened it, and remind only the crew who have not.
Onboarding
From a phone number to a signed contract.
Add someone with a name and a phone number. They get a link of their own by text, fill in their details, and the employment contract fills itself in from the answers. You approve it, they sign from the same phone, and the signed copy is filed for both of you.
Safety
What was said on the bridge, on the record in seconds.
Officers talk on the vessel the way they always have. When something comes up that has to be kept, a finding, a near miss, a defect, press and hold the message and send it straight into your safety system. It arrives as a record with who said it and when, ready to escalate. Nothing depends on somebody remembering to write it up at the end of a watch.
Requests
One list to the whole crew, one order to the supplier.
The chief steward sets up the shop list for the trip and caps whatever needs capping, snus for one. Every crew member gets it on their phone and picks what they want. A capped item simply stops at its limit, so nobody has to police it. The orders arrive as they come in, add themselves up, and split by the supplier they come from, ready to send and already filed for the books.
Across every module
All communication in Shipmate is access controlled. You choose whether the message reaches those on rotation or those off, one vessel or several, one role or the whole organisation.
It sounds like a technical detail, but for someone sleeping between watches it is the difference between being woken by something important and being woken by something that could have waited.
Promote
When someone reports something in the chat, the officer can promote the message straight into the safety management system or HR. That way the same observation is not written twice, and the person who reported it sees that it moved on.
